H is for Hedley

This month I am participating in the A-Z Blogging Challenge where I will endeavour to post on this blog each day. It’s my first attempt at the challenge, I hope that I have the stamina to complete it.

I will be going through the Curry forenames in my surname study database from A-Z and,  as per the event schedule, will share some of the articles I have found on Trove relating to Currys. For problem letters like X and Q I may  resort to Google.

In my travels through Trove I have found two chaps called Hedley Curry. My instinct that they were Grandfather and Grandson has been proven. I still have quite  some work to do on the older Hedley’s ancestors and descendants!

We can glean quite a deal of information about Hedley Curry (1857-1925) from Trove.

Those drowning fatalaties were far too frequent in the old days. What a collection of treasures you’ve found in Trove for this family…love the contrast between MCing, improper language and drunkenness. I’m thinking he must have come from Athlone…isn’t that a surprising guess.
