This month I am participating in the A-Z Blogging Challenge where I will endeavour to post on this blog each day. It’s my first attempt at the challenge, I hope that I have the stamina to complete it.
I will be going through the Curry forenames in my surname study database from A-Z and, as per the event schedule, will share some of the articles I have found on Trove relating to Currys. For problem letters like X and Q I may resort to Google.
Thanks to Anne for letting me know that I had neglected to have any content in this post. I distinctly remember researching Lillian and saving several articles from Trove about her but, as I have used these in another post I have scheduled, I need to start again.
I was initially going to write about Leslie Curry but I didn’t want to share yet more sad news….however in desperation I’ll do so. I’l be back in half an hour or so to finish this story……
Leslie Sydney Patrick Curry is another relation of mine, he is my 2nd cousin twice removed. Leslie’s life came to a tragic end when he was out in the countryside around Camden with a couple of his mates.

The inquest report that is a continuation of the above article includes statements from the boys who were with Leslie.It is interesting to read of the Coroner’s remarks in the wake of this tragedy.

While his parents are buried in Camden Cemetery I cannot find young Leslie’s resting place.

How frustrating to lose the draft!
A sad end for poor Leslie. I agree with the coroner about firearms but I do think teenagers of today are more mollycoddled than ever before. You don’t hear of four schoolboys out for an afternoon’s pleasure unless it is some more urban pursuit. More fun for the poor rabbits or whatever was the intended target though.

That is so sad!
I’m a suburbs girl and we were visiting my cousins in ranch country once, I was about 15. They got the bright idea to sneak out of the house and go crop raiding. We were trying to pinch some farmers veggies and must have been giggling to loud, he shot at us with a salt gun. OUCH! I just heard the bang and didn’t know what it was, as I scrambled over the fence. I’ll stick to the burbs!

Ah, the pressure – I published my S story when I meant to schedule, but how annoying to lose Lilian. What a traumatic experience for all the boys, and yes, the coroner’s warning seems equally relevant today.
